It ain't safe no more

5:30 a.m.

Bee and I were jolted awake by a hailstorm of bullets. BULLETS, y'all. As in, gunfire!

A gang related shooting took place in the diner just below our building. Whoever did it emptied his clip into the victim.

We live in Greenwich Village, people! In a high rise building with 15 doormen and a pool! We are not in the projects in Harlem!

The report is below. Photo courtesy of CBS news.

West Village Shooting Leaves Man Critical
Reporting
Jay Dow NEW YORK (CBS) ―

Investigators did not identify the victim, but said he is in his 30s and was shot in the neck and back around 5:40 a.m. by the "Cozy Soup And Burger Diner."

"I go outside, and there goes the guy, down on the street, that's it," a witness said.

Police said the incident started when the victim got into an argument with four other men inside the diner and ended out on the street with gunfire.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he's listed in critical condition.

Police have not released a motive for the shooting, but said the four suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored vehicle.
